The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly exploring the immediate resumption of IPL 2025 following the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan announced on Saturday evening. However, final approval hinges on clearance from the Indian government.

Speaking to The Indian Express, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal confirmed that the board is currently in discussions with all relevant stakeholders to plan the tournament’s resumption. “Ceasefire has just been announced. We now explore the possibility of resuming and concluding the IPL… We need to work out the venue dates and everything, and we would now be speaking to all the stakeholders, including team owners, broadcasters, and everyone involved,” said Dhumal, adding that consultation with the government is key.

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla also stated that the IPL governing council will meet on Sunday (May 11) to further deliberate on the revised schedule.

BCCI Set to Finalize IPL 2025 Resumption Plans Amid Ceasefire Developments

“The war has stopped. In the new situation BCCI office bearers, officials and IPL governing council, will discuss the matter tomorrow (Sunday) and take a call,” BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla told PTI Videos. “We will see which can be the best schedule to complete the tournament.”

According to reports, all IPL franchises and players have been advised to stay prepared, with the BCCI eager to restart the league at the earliest. The board will also assess how quickly overseas players—many of whom have already returned home—can rejoin their teams on short notice for the final leg of the tournament.

As per ESPNcricinfo, BCCI has shortlisted three venues—Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad—to host the remaining 16 matches, including 12 league games and four playoffs. However, a final decision will be taken after discussions with the Indian government. If this plan goes ahead, the previously scheduled finale and Qualifier 2 at Eden Gardens will be moved, marking a shift from the original tournament layout.
