1. Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings became the first team to be knocked out of IPL 2025 playoff contention after a crushing loss to Punjab Kings in Match 49 at Chepauk. Despite Sam Curran’s valiant 88 and a hat-trick by Yuzvendra Chahal, CSK couldn’t defend 190. Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh’s fifties sealed PBKS’s four-wicket win. With just two wins in their first 10 games, CSK could only reach a maximum of 12 points, officially ending their playoff hopes.
2. Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals became the second team to be eliminated from the IPL 2025 playoffs race, following Chennai Super Kings. RR suffered a crushing 100-run defeat to Mumbai Indians in Match 50 after being bowled out for just 117 while chasing 218. With only three wins from their first 11 matches, the Royals have earned six points. Even if they win their remaining three games, their maximum possible tally of 12 points won’t be enough to secure a playoff spot this season.
3. Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the 2024 IPL runners-up, became the third team to be eliminated from the IPL 2025 playoffs race after their crucial home clash against Delhi Capitals was washed out due to rain. In a must-win scenario, SRH earned just one point, leaving them with a maximum possible total of 13 points even if they win their remaining three matches — not enough to qualify. Their elimination follows Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, who were ousted earlier this season.
4. Kolkata Knight Riders
After CSK, RR, and SRH, defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) became the fourth team to be eliminated from the IPL 2025 playoffs race. KKR’s away game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru was washed out due to rain, earning them just one point in a must-win scenario. With only one league-stage match remaining, even a win would take them to just 14 points—insufficient for qualification. This marks a disappointing end to their title defense campaign in IPL 2025.
