Yashasvi Jaiswal Struggles to Secure Spot in India’s White-Ball Side. Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has opened up about his struggle to become a regular in India’s white-ball setup. The young batter acknowledged that selection is beyond his control, saying he will accept whatever comes his way and leave the rest to fate.
Jaiswal, regarded as one of the brightest talents in Indian cricket, has quickly established himself in the Test team. The left-hander has been a consistent run-scorer in the longest format, making significant contributions in almost every series he has played.
In white-ball cricket, Jaiswal has also delivered impressive performances. Yet, despite his talent, he has found it difficult to cement his place due to limited opportunities and stiff competition from established players.
The 21-year-old missed out on India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2025 and has not been selected for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia. He is, however, included in the three-match ODI series, though his chances of playing may be limited given the presence of Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma.
“Being in the white-ball team is not my decision, and it’s beyond my control” – Yashasvi Jaiswal

Speaking about his place in India’s white-ball side, Yashasvi Jaiswal said he doesn’t dwell on it, as it’s not something he can influence. He emphasized living in the present and trusting that whatever is meant for him will come his way. During a conversation with Raj Shamani on his YouTube channel, he said:
“Being in the white-ball team is not my decision, and it’s not in my control. There’s no point worrying about things beyond my hands. I focus on improving what I can control.
I try to live in the present and trust that whatever happens, happens for a reason. Whatever is destined for me cannot be taken away, and whatever isn’t meant for me, no one can give it.”
