Roston Chase will lead the West Indies as captain in their upcoming series against India. The two teams will continue their ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 campaigns with a two-match Test series. The first Test begins on October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, followed by the second Test from October 10 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
On the eve of the series, West Indies skipper and all-rounder Roston Chase exuded confidence while speaking to the media.
Chase was appointed captain of the West Indies Test side earlier this year. The team recently endured a tough 0–3 home series defeat against Australia, including a dramatic collapse for just 27 runs in the final match.
Now, under Chase’s leadership, the West Indies aim to challenge a formidable Indian side, especially on spin-friendly pitches.

The West Indies have struggled against India in recent decades, having not won a Test on Indian soil since the 1994-95 series. Their last Test victory over India came at home in 2002-03, and since then, India has largely dominated the once-mighty Windies.
Ahead of the series, the West Indies have already lost two key pacers, Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph, to injuries, while Jason Holder opted out of the tour. This means the team will rely heavily on their spin trio of Roston Chase, Jomel Warrican, and Khary Pierre.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, West Indies captain Roston Chase described his team as the “underdogs” against a formidable Indian side. “We are the underdogs. We have nothing to lose. That might make us a dangerous side,” he said, as reported by RevSportz.
Chase added that his players are already well-aware of their roles and that the team has not undertaken any “special preparation” for the series. He also noted that the pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium appears somewhat green, which could influence the game.
