After a long time, former India captain MS Dhoni and current head coach Gautam Gambhir were spotted together at the wedding festivities of Utkarsh Sanghvi, brother of Gujarat Minister of State Harsh Sanghvi. Reports also confirmed the attendance of India’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma, along with celebrities like Suniel Shetty and Harbhajan Singh.
Dhoni and Gambhir were captured in the same frame, and the photo is now going viral online. The 2011 World Cup-winning captain attended the event with his wife, Sakshi. Dhoni looked sharp in a black suit paired with a white shirt, while Gambhir opted for a blue formal shirt.
Although Rohit Sharma attended the wedding, he was not seen posing with Dhoni or Gambhir. Other notable attendees included Harbhajan Singh with his wife Geeta Basra, Parthiv Patel, Tilak Varma, and Irfan Pathan. Given that Dhoni and Gambhir rarely attend events together, their presence at this wedding made the occasion particularly special.
Relationship between Dhoni and Gambhir
The relationship between MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir has long been a topic of discussion on social media. The duo famously shared a pivotal partnership in the 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka, with Gambhir scoring 97 and Dhoni remaining unbeaten on 91, sealing India’s victory with a memorable six.
Over the years, Gambhir has often expressed that the team’s efforts were overshadowed, with media attention focusing disproportionately on Dhoni’s winning shot. He has also openly discussed team selections and decision-making during Dhoni’s captaincy, which fueled media narratives of a rivalry, even though both players maintained their focus on India’s success.
Gambhir eventually lost his place in the playing XI under Dhoni, and after retiring internationally, admitted to frustrations over the lack of communication regarding his exclusion.
