KL Rahul scored a resilient 100 runs off 177 balls in the first innings of the Lord’s Test. The Indian opener has now inscribed his name on the prestigious Lord’s honour board for the second time in his Test career. Rahul’s brilliant century came during the ongoing third Test of the five-match series against England.
Having previously scored a century at Lord’s in 2021, Rahul continued his excellent form at this iconic venue. Opening the innings, the right-handed batter showcased his class and played one of his finest Test innings to date.
Throughout the series, Rahul has been in good touch, but this innings stood out as his best so far. His composed performance gave India a strong start in reply to England’s first-innings total of 387.
India’s innings began shakily with an early wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal, but Rahul provided much-needed stability. He displayed elegant strokeplay and kept the English bowlers under constant pressure with his confident approach.
Rahul first reached a crucial fifty despite challenging conditions where the ball was moving around. He expertly negotiated the difficult phase before confidently converting his fifty into a century, steering India into a strong position.
His century, which came off 176 balls, marked his 10th Test hundred. Rahul’s partnership with Rishabh Pant, who scored 74, revived India’s innings after the initial pressure. However, shortly after reaching his hundred, Rahul was dismissed, finishing his innings on 100 runs from 177 balls.

In a series of high scores by Indian batsmen, @klrahul has been a stand out. 100 in 2 tests, a 50 in another, he has taken on the mantle of being the rock around whom the others can play their game. Playing with great calm and technical finesse. Hopefully this series will end…
