India Women Clinch Historic T20I Series Win Over England on UK Soil

Harmanpreet Kaur-led India created history on Wednesday by winning their first-ever T20I bilateral series (of more than two matches) against England. What made the achievement even more special was that it came on English soil. India sealed the landmark victory by winning the fourth T20I of the five-match series by six wickets.
The series began on a strong note for the visitors, with wins in the first two matches—highlighted by Smriti Mandhana’s century at Trent Bridge. England bounced back in the third T20I at The Oval, but India regained momentum in the fourth match to take an unassailable 3-1 lead.
England, batting first after winning the toss, posted 126/7, thanks to a disciplined Indian bowling display led by Shree Charani and Radha Yadav, who picked up two wickets each. In reply, India comfortably chased the target in 17 overs, with useful contributions from Mandhana (32), Shafali Verma (31), Jemimah Rodrigues (24), and skipper Harmanpreet (26). Richa Ghosh and Amanjot Kaur remained unbeaten as India crossed the finish line with 18 balls to spare.

“We are really grateful that we were able to do this. I’m really proud of my team, the way we played this series. It was really important to get that momentum, and I’m really happy the way we all contributed,” Harmanpreet said at the post-match presentation. Everybody knew their role, and accordingly, we all played,” she added.
Looking ahead, Harmanpreet is optimistic about sealing a 4-1 series win in the final T20I at Edgbaston on July 12. “Hopefully. We need to do the right things again and again,” she concluded.
