Ruturaj Gaikwad recently featured in the India A squad for the unofficial Test series against the England Lions. The Indian top-order batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad has signed a contract with Yorkshire County Cricket Club to participate in England’s domestic cricket for the upcoming season. The right-handed batsman will begin his stint with Yorkshire in July 2025 and continue through the end of the season.
The 28-year-old is expected to play five matches in the County Championship, starting with the opening game against Surrey next month. He will also take part in the One-Day Cup later in the season. Gaikwad was part of the India A squad during the recently concluded unofficial Test series against the England Lions.
India A and England Lions competed in two unofficial Test matches from May 30 to June 9, both ending in draws. Gaikwad did not feature in the playing XI in either match. To date, the right-handed batsman has appeared in six ODIs and 23 T20Is for the Indian national team.
Ruturaj Gaikwad Excited to Join Yorkshire

After signing with the county team, Ruturaj Gaikwad expressed his enthusiasm about playing in the English domestic season, calling Yorkshire the biggest club in England. He described it as a fantastic opportunity to represent the club in both the County Championship and the One-Day Cup tournaments.
“I’m really excited to be joining Yorkshire for the remainder of the English domestic season,” Gaikwad said. “Playing cricket in England has always been a goal of mine, and there’s no bigger club here than Yorkshire,” he told ESPN Cricinfo.
“I understand how important it is to make an immediate impact, especially during this critical phase of the season. We have some key matches coming up in the County Championship, and the One-Day Cup presents a great chance to compete for silverware,” he added.
Meanwhile, Gaikwad last featured in competitive cricket in April during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). He captained the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the first five matches but was sidelined for the rest of the season due to an elbow injury. Under MS Dhoni’s leadership after his injury, CSK finished last in the IPL 2025 points table.
