Cameron Green has been named in Australia’s squad for the ICC World Test Championship 2023–25 final. The all-rounder will feature in the much-anticipated clash between Australia and South Africa, set to be held at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London starting June 11.
Cameron Green returns to the Test side after more than a year. His last appearance in the format came during Australia’s tour of New Zealand in February-March 2024. He was in outstanding form during that two-match series, finishing as the top run-scorer with 238 runs in four innings at an impressive average of 79.33, including a century.
With the ball, he also contributed by taking three wickets. However, following the series, Green suffered a stress fracture and later underwent back surgery in October last year. Due to the injury and recovery period, he spent considerable time away from the game before making his comeback for this crucial final.
“That Was Really Special”: Cameron Green on Jasprit Bumrah’s Message

In a chat with Cricbuzz, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green shared that Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah had reached out to him before his surgery in October last year. Bumrah, who was then involved in a home Test series against New Zealand, took the time to send Green a supportive text message.
“That was really special. It makes you feel a lot better about things. I didn’t actually play alongside him at Mumbai, but that’s where our connection began. We spent a bit of time together there,” Green said.
Bumrah was in phenomenal form during the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, finishing as the highest wicket-taker with 32 wickets and being named Player of the Series. Green said that seeing Bumrah perform so well after undergoing back surgery gave him a lot of reassurance.
“For someone like him to reach out, and then to watch him perform the way he did post-surgery during the summer, it really filled me with confidence,” he added.
To note, Bumrah sustained a back injury in September 2022 and underwent surgery in 2023. The rehabilitation process kept him out of action for nearly a year.
