Chris Woakes made an impactful return from injury by picking the first three Indian wickets on Day 1 of the second unofficial Test against India A. Featuring for the England Lions, performance was a promising sign ahead of the upcoming Test series, as he gears up for a potential spot in England’s XI for the Headingley clash.
Despite his early inroads, Woakes was kept at bay by KL Rahul’s composed and fluent 116 on a pitch that offered consistent movement. “KL played really well, good hundred, on a wicket which did a little bit all day,” Woakes told ESPNcricinfo.
