Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) posted a huge total of 278 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2025. In the ongoing match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on Sunday, 25th May, SRH’s batting display was outstanding. After choosing to bat first, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s openers, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, launched an aggressive assault on the KKR bowlers right from the beginning, giving their team a powerful start.
The opening pair put together a blistering 92 runs in just 7 overs, with Sharma scoring 32 and Head contributing 76 before Sharma was dismissed. In response, the Pat Cummins-led KKR promoted Heinrich Klaasen up the order, a move that proved to be highly effective.
Heinrich Klaasen delivered a spectacular batting performance, capitalizing on the solid foundation laid by the openers. The South African smashed a six off just the third ball he faced and never looked back, punishing the Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowlers all around the ground.
Klaasen recorded his second century of the league, reaching the milestone in only 37 balls—the joint third-fastest in IPL history. He finished unbeaten on 105 runs from 39 balls, boasting a strike rate of over 269, with seven boundaries and nine sixes.
He received strong support from Ishan Kishan, who scored 29, as the pair put together an 83-run partnership for the third wicket. Later, Aniket Verma contributed an unbeaten 12 runs as Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a mammoth total of 278. This marked their fifth occasion crossing the 250-run mark in the tournament and the third-highest team total ever in IPL.
