Shubman Gill, one of India’s most talented young batsmen in recent years, made his Test debut in December 2020 in Australia. From his early days in age-group cricket, he was earmarked for greatness, emerging as India’s leading run-scorer and Man of the Tournament during the 2018 Under-19 World Cup triumph.
Despite early success, Gill experienced a dip in form and struggled with consistency, leading to periods out of the Test side. He rediscovered his rhythm during the 2024 home Test series against England, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer and solidifying his place in the squad. His consistent performances ultimately paved the way for him to captain the Indian Test team in 2025.
