Harry Brook opens up on skipping IPL 2025; discusses his comeback after a 2-year ban.

Harry Brook has been handed a two-year ban from the IPL after withdrawing from the 2025 season. England’s white-ball captain, Harry Brook, has opened up about his decision to skip the Indian Premier League (IPL) and shared his hopes of returning to the tournament in the future.

Harry Brook was acquired by the Delhi Capitals (DC) for INR 6.25 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, he opted out of the tournament just before it started, prioritising his national duties with England. This move violated a new BCCI regulation.

According to a rule introduced by the BCCI in September 2024—effective from the 2025 season—any player who pulls out after being bought at the auction is subject to an automatic two-season suspension.

“Incredibly Tough Call” – Harry Brook Opens Up on Skipping IPL 2025

After serving a two-year suspension, England batter Harry Brook has expressed his desire to return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the future, although he opted out of the 2025 season.

“It was an incredibly difficult decision. The IPL is an amazing tournament. It’s high-quality cricket with the best players in the world. The crowds, the atmosphere—it’s unbelievable. It’s the best franchise tournament in the world. I definitely want to be a part of it again someday, but for now, my focus is fully on representing England,” Brook told the Times of India.

Harry Brook is currently a part of England’s Test squad in the ongoing series against India. In the first Test, he made a crucial contribution by scoring 99 runs in the first innings, narrowly missing out on a century but playing a key role in England’s victory.

He also lauded Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant for his stellar performance.

“Pant is an incredible player. It was a joy to watch him bat. He’s one of those players you can’t take your eyes off—when he’s at the crease, you want the TV on. He can shift the game in an instant, no matter the opposition. Truly, one of the best in the world,” Brook said.

Pant recently made history by becoming the first Indian wicket-keeper batter—and only the second overall—to score twin centuries in a single Test match at Leeds. He notched up scores of 134 and 118, though his efforts weren’t enough to secure a win, as England chased down a target of 371 runs to win the match by five wickets.
