Such incidents have happened on the cricket field before
Earlier, a similar sight was seen in a Big Bash League (BBL) match in January 2025, but that incident was unfortunate. In the match played between Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), a powerful shot by James Vince of Sydney Sixers hit a seagull. Vince hit a straight drive off Melbourne Stars bowler Joel Paris, which collided with a seagull while staying close to the ground.
This intrusion of seagulls in Taunton provided a memorable and light-hearted moment to this County Championship match. Though the incident was hilarious, it also highlighted nature’s unexpected intervention in the sport.
