Afghanistan\u2019s Noor Ahmad and Mujeeb Ur Rahman had a challenging outing with the ball in their Asia Cup 2025 Group B clash against Sri Lanka.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noor Ahmad: Both players have received official reprimands for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the match in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asia Cup: Noor Ahmad Ahmad was found in violation of Article 2.8, which covers \u201cshowing dissent at an umpire\u2019s decision during an international match,\u201d while Mujeeb Ur Rahman breached Article 2.2, relating to \u201cabuse of cricket equipment, clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures during an international match.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, each player received one demerit point on their disciplinary record. This marks the first offence for both within a 24-month period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noor Ahmad incident occurred in the 16th over of Sri Lanka\u2019s innings when he showed dissent after one of his deliveries was called a wide. Meanwhile, Mujeeb was penalized for aggressively breaking the stumps with his towel during one of his overs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noor Ahmad and Mujeeb Ur Rahman acknowledged their offences and accepted the sanctions.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Both players admitted to the violations and agreed to the penalties proposed by Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, eliminating the need for formal hearings.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The charges were brought by on-field umpires Asif Yaqoob and Virender Sharma<\/a>, third umpire Faisal Afridi, and fourth umpire Rohan Pandit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noor Ahmad: Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum of 50% of a player\u2019s match fee, and one or two demerit points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
